1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out the rules governing use of the Guardiobot platform and services (the "Service"). It supplements the Terms of Service and applies to all users — including server administrators, regular users, volunteers, and API consumers.

Guardiobot exists to protect communities. This AUP is designed to ensure the Service is used only for that purpose and never weaponised against the people it is built to defend.

2. Permitted Use

You may use the Service to:

  • Protect Discord servers and Roblox experiences from harmful content, spam, raids, and policy violations
  • Review and action community reports as a credentialled Guardiobot volunteer
  • Configure moderation settings, filters, and enforcement rules for servers you administer
  • Access the server owner dashboard to manage your community's Guardiobot configuration
  • Submit anonymous reports about content you believe violates community standards
  • Appeal moderation decisions you believe were made in error
  • Access the Guardiobot API within the rate limits and scope of your subscription tier (Developer tier only)

3. Prohibited Conduct

3.1 Technical abuse

  • Attempting to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from any part of the Service
  • Attempting to gain unauthorised access to the Service, volunteer dashboard, server owner dashboard, or any connected systems or databases
  • Interfering with or disrupting the operation of the Service or its infrastructure
  • Circumventing, disabling, or attempting to bypass any security measure, rate limit, permission check, or access control
  • Deploying automated scripts, bots, or tools to interact with the Service in ways not expressly authorised
  • Transmitting malware, viruses, or other malicious code through or to the Service

3.2 Abuse of the moderation system

  • Submitting false, malicious, or bad-faith reports intended to target or harass a specific user
  • Attempting to manipulate the adaptive learning system or content detection rules to evade enforcement
  • Coordinating with others to flood the report queue with frivolous submissions
  • Providing false information in an appeal to influence a review outcome
  • Impersonating a Guardiobot volunteer or misrepresenting your affiliation with Guardiobot

3.3 Harmful use

  • Using the Service to harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate, or harm any person
  • Using the Service to facilitate or conceal illegal activity
  • Using the Service in any way that targets individuals based on a protected characteristic
  • Collecting or harvesting personal data from other users without their knowledge or consent
  • Using the Service for any commercial purpose not expressly authorised by us

3.4 Platform compliance

You must comply with Discord's Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, and Developer Terms, and Roblox's Terms of Use and Community Standards. Violations of platform rules may result in immediate termination of your access to the Service.

4. Content Standards

The Service is designed to detect and remove the following categories of content. Server administrators must not configure Guardiobot to permit content in these categories within their communities:

  • Illegal content: CSAM, child exploitation material, content facilitating illegal activity. Zero tolerance — any detection triggers immediate action and referral to the appropriate authorities
  • NSFW content: explicit sexual imagery or language, in channels or communities where younger audiences may be present
  • Violence and harm: direct threats, self-harm encouragement, violent imagery, suicide encouragement, grooming escalation patterns
  • Hate speech: slurs, discriminatory language, and targeted harassment based on protected characteristics
  • Spam and scams: phishing links, mass mention spam, cryptocurrency scams, coordinated raid activity

Detection sensitivity and response actions are configurable per server within limits we set. No configuration option permits illegal content.

5. Reporting and Volunteer System

The Guardiobot volunteer system is an internal function operated by credentialled volunteers. Volunteers are bound by the Volunteer Code of Conduct and subject to tiered access controls:

  • Entry-level volunteers cannot see usernames or reporter identities — these are redacted at the API layer, not just hidden in the UI
  • Access to NSFW report categories requires verified age confirmation and signed legal documentation (Content Class 2 clearance), granted only by a Trust & Safety Manager
  • All volunteer actions are recorded in an immutable audit log under the reviewing volunteer's identity
  • Volunteer credentials expire on a defined schedule and must be actively renewed

Attempting to access the volunteer system without valid credentials, or to circumvent volunteer access controls, is a serious violation of this AUP and may constitute a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990.

6. Enforcement

Violations of this AUP may result in:

  • A warning issued through the Service
  • Temporary restriction of access
  • Permanent ban from the Service, propagated across the entire Guardiobot network
  • Removal of volunteer credentials
  • Referral to law enforcement or platform trust and safety teams, where required by law or where there is an immediate risk of harm

Enforcement severity depends on the nature and context of the violation. We reserve the right to determine the appropriate response in each case.

7. Appeals

All moderation actions are appealable by default unless a senior volunteer has specifically restricted appeal rights on a given case. To appeal a moderation decision, submit an appeal through your Guardiobot dashboard. You must wait six months from the date of the original action before appealing a ban.

Appeals are reviewed by senior volunteers (Level 2 and above). All appeal decisions are recorded in the audit log.
